EMMY AWARD WINNING SHOW
For over a quarter of a century, Great Scenic Railway
Journeys and its creator, Robert Van Camp, have captured some of the worlds
best Railway Adventures. In this
Anniversary Special Robert has selected some of his favorite trips in North
America. More than just a tour, his stories capture the spirit of North
America’s Tourist Railways and the people that keep them running. Hosted by
Grammy-winning musician and storyteller David Holt, this program tells the
unforgettable stories of some our most historic and scenic heritage railroads
from across the United States and Canada.
These railways and museums offer up much more than just a
train ride or walk through a museum full of artifacts and equipment. They are
the away to get up close and personal and let your senses come alive as you
see, hear, smell, touch and even taste our railways pioneering history. Thanks
to them, North America offers more railway adventures than anywhere else in the
world and in this program we are going to venture on some of the very best.
From historic steam trains and classic streamliners, elegant dinner trains, to
one of the most luxurious rail-liner in North America, 17 journeys in all. We
will also introduce you to the men and women keep this history alive and on
